Just The Two Of Us

I have a younger sister named Jenna, she’s 4 ½ years younger than me. We are so close; she is truly my best friend. Ever since we were little we have always been inseparable and even though there is a huge age difference between is we still feel like were the same age. Every time we go somewhere people are always asking us if were twins, and when we tell them were 5 years apart they can’t believe it. I must admit, we look very much alike, we also act very similar …it’s kind of scary. Without Jenna I wouldn’t be the same, I act the way I do to set good example for my sister. She is turning 16 this upcoming June and I want to get her something special. Instead of her having a sweet 16 she wanted to go on a vacation instead, so we went on a Caribbean cruise in January. I want to get her something that reminds her of me.

There are tons of things I could buy her but I want to get her something special and from the heart. When I was 16 I got a heart necklace from Tiffany & Co and fell in love with it. I went on their website and found the perfect necklace. It’s simple and classy, just like my sister is. It has two small hearts; symbolizing me and my sister. One heart has the Tiffany logo and the other is plain, I want to have something special engraved on the plain one. I figured if I write something nice she will never forget our special bond as sisters. As soon as I figure out what to write I am going to buy the necklace. Any suggestions?

Splash Into Summer

I live on Long Island in a town called Island Park; it is surrounded by beaches and boardwalks. My whole life I’ve grown up spending summer days and nights on the beach or on the boat. Living on the water has made swimming and water sports a huge part of my life. Ever since I was 5 I’ve been water tubing and water skiing ever summer. My friends expect to come on the boat every year since it’s my life. Even though I am the biggest “girly girl” I also love to fish, go clamming and crabbing. Since the weather started to break me and my father started cleaning up all of our water sport equipment and we realized it’s time to update our collection. So my dad and I went to Dicks Sporting Goods; we  bought a new pair of skis and a new tube for the boat. I was so excited when we got the new equipment because it means summer is coming soon! Everyone looks forward to the summer for different reasons and every year I look forward to spending everyday on the water. Not only is it exhilarating and entertaining it is also very relaxing just to sit on the boat and enjoy the sea breeze. Every year I see how much I have improved my water skiing ability and I can’t wait to develop better skills this year!

Always A Child At Heart

I have a steady babysitting job on the weekends and I am always trying to do different things with the kids. The girls are 8 years old and the boy is 5 years old. Since they are three years apart they the opposite sex, it is so hard to do something they both like. I babysit from 12-5, which means I have to keep them occupied the whole day! Since it is going to be nice next weekend I figured it would be best to enjoy the beautiful weather. I went to the toy section in Target to get some ideas. I can’t get something girly or boyish because one of them would end up unhappy. While I was at target I saw a bunch of unisex toys that would make them both pleased, even myself.

I found a variety of kites, for the girl I bought a princess kite and for the boy I bought a super hero one. It was perfect because it’s something they can both do together.

I also bought a 3D chalk art kit; although regular chalk is always fun I thought this would be a cool new twist to playing outside. Lastly I bought washable colored bubbles; I have never seen this before so I had to buy it!
When I was buying all of these toys I realized I wasn’t buying them for the children I babysit for, I was really buying them for myself! They are just my excuse to be a kid again. Nothing is wrong with having fun and showing your youth.

Bubbles

Last weekend I went shopping in a local shopping center with my sister. Right before we were going to leave she wanted to stop into the pet store .In front of the pet store was a huge sign displaying the new shipment puppies they just got in. My sister has a passion for animals and wanted to go see the new puppies. If anyone were to know one thing about me, it is that I am petrified of furry animals. I refused to go into the store because I know that there are mice, hamsters and other rodents in there. After she begged me to go in, I finally went in, but I only stood in the front were the fish were. While she was playing with the dogs I had no other choice but to look at fish. While I was waiting there I couldn’t help but to notice all of the different colorful fish. The worker at the pet store saw me standing by the tanks and asked me if I had any questions or interest in buying a fish. I told him how my sister dragged me into the store to see the dogs and how I am terrified of animals. I told him the only reason why I by the fish was because they weren’t near the rodents.

He felt so bad for me and told me I could feed the fish. By the time my sister was done, it was about 40 minutes and the guy told me I could pick out a fish and I could keep it. So I decided to pick out Japanese fighting fish. It was pink and purple; I have never seen anything like it before! Since he was giving me the fish for free I felt obligated to by a fish bowl, food and some gravel. Now “Bubbles” (my new fish), hangs out in my room every day instead of being locked up in the pet store.

Bloom into Spring ( MARCH 6, 2011)

Finally, the nice weather is starting to break though! This past week it has been beautiful out. Like most people, I find it so hard to stay indoors when it is so nice outside. Since it’s not hot enough to go in the pool or go to the beach I needed to think of something else to keep me busy outside. Randomly I decided that I wanted to make a garden. Not only would it keep me busy outdoors but it is also very rewarding. My family uses a lot of vegetables, so if we plant them we would get a lot of usage out of it. Me and my sister went to a local gardening store and bought all types of seeds. We bought arugula, basil, broccoli rabe, tomatoes, cucumbers and lettuce.

Considering I never gardened before I was anxious to see the results. Since I am gardening virgin, I thought it would be a good idea if I looked up gardening tips online. Thankfully I came across a few websites with a “gardening how-to-guide”. I decided to I always thought gardening was simple, but I was wrong; it takes a lot of time and effort. Instead of it keeping me busy for a day, it turned out to be a week project. After all the hard work, I cannot wait to see my results; I hope the plants eventually start to bloom.

What Does Procrastination Mean To You?

Procrastination is putting off important tasks until a later time. Procrastination can lead to a great deal of stress, a sense of guilt, and severe loss of productivity. Unlike most people I am the complete opposite of a procrastinator I have an obsession with getting my high-priority actions completed before I do anything else. I get very stressed out and worried when I know I have a lot of work to do in a short amount of time. When I get any homework assignment I do it that immediate day. It is extremely important to be on top of your work because procrastination can lead you to stress and problems. One helpful tip to not procrastinate is to: have an agenda and make a list of all of your tasks that need to be completed. Make the list in priority order and put the dates next to them down.
