Getting ready for that beach body ?

As we all know , summer will be here before we know it. Even though there is still snow on the ground the  stores are stocked with the latest bathing suits. I always by my bathing suits as soon as they come out because as soon as summer actually comes all the stores are sold out of bathing suits or my size is on back order. So this weekend I was at the mall and couldn't help but to see all the new bathing suits on display. I was trying them on and realized it would be a perfect time to start going to the gym. In the winter I always wear jeans and long sleeves not noticing in the summer I will not have extra clothes to cover up. Everyone feels a lot better about themselves when they feel fit and toned up, so I decided to join the gym this weekend. Since I have absolutely no motivation I decided to drag my sister with me. Gym memberships can be extremely expensive , especially if you have a package with all the classes included. Since I am a broke college student I went to a local gym by my house and signed up for the basic gym package for $25 a month. The gym at school is actually a great gym but since I don't live at school it is really inconvenient for me to use it. It would save me $300 a year but driving home in the car sweaty for 45 minutes and not being able to shower right after isn't really worth it for me .

People are more concerned about their health and weight then ever before . Gyms make hundreds of thousands of dollars on memberships every year and still people are obese and over weight. Maybe if memberships were a little cheaper it would draw more people in. The Biggest Loser television show is also an incredible motivator. Every time I watch it I can't believe how much weight these people lose. If only we had Jillian or Bob train us everyday. But since that will never happen the gym is the closest thing to it. Since summer is only around the block I figured why not start caring about my body and stay fit and healthy.

PROJECT 3

Radio:
Hiromitsu Shinkawa, a 60 year old miracle survivor was found floating on top of his roof, two days after being stranded 10 miles at sea from an unforeseen Tsunami striking the heart of Japan.

In the midst of all the tragic stories of death and destruction in the result of the earthquake and tsunami in Japan a miraculous story appears shortly after.  A Japanese military vessel spotted Hiromitsu Shinkawa a 60 year old man who was floating on top of his roof stranded 10 miles at sea. He was found two days after the devastating tsunami hit the north-east coast of Japan. As the waves approached the town he and his wife quickly gathered their belongings. Just minutes later the waves were crashing, destroying the town in seconds. He saw his neighborhood float away right before his own eyes. Right before it couldn’t get any worse his wife was swept away from the waves but Shinkawa was destined to continue the struggle. He stayed afloat drifting though the debris from other houses and buildings. Throughout his journey he was constantly waving a red flag in hope of seeking help. Several helicopters and boats had passed by not noticing Shinkawa . Fortunately, he was lucky enough to get rescued. This is one of the most astonishing survival stories that emerged from this terrible disaster.

Gas inflation

2012 civic coupe

2009 c300

I was babysitting this weekend and as I was driving home I realized I didn't have gas in my car. Before I go somewhere I always make sure I have enough gas but since I took my dad’s car I forgot to look. I babysit about 12 miles away from my house, and I wouldn't have made it home if I were to wait. So I pull up to the gas station and told the guy to fill up the car, after he filled it up he told me I owed him $70. I was in total shock; I couldn't believe how much it cost to fill up a car. Thank god I was coming home from babysitting and I had that much cash on me because I would have been in trouble. It wasn't even like I was driving a truck or an SUV I was driving a small c300. When I got home I told my dad how much the car cost to fill up and he couldn't believe it. I have an SUV which costs a lot of money to fill up as well. Since my car is so bad on gas I had a discussion with my dad about looking for a new car that is a lot better on gas. So now we are in the process at looking for a new car because it cost way too much money to drive around locally. The new 2012 civic coupe get 40 miles to the gallon. It comes out next month and I am looking to purchase it as soon as possible. The sooner I get it the less money I have to spend on gas . They predict the gas to inflate to about $5 per gallon this summer. This drastic gas inflation will cause many people to not travel as much; which is horrible for the economy. Hopefully gasoline starts to stabilize.

Switch it up

It’s my boyfriend’s birthday this week and I decided to think out of the box for his birthday gift. I usually get him something he really wants or needs and this year he didn’t seem to want anything in particular so I thought I would have some fun with his gift this year. We are both obsessed with sushi; the only place we ever go to dinner is to a Japanese restaurant that serves sushi. We try different restaurants all over Long Island. So I figured since us both enjoy sushi so much why not take him to a place that teaches us how to make sushi. I figured to switch it up a bit instead of the chef making it for us I thought it would be more fun to make ourselves. I went to Google looking up the best sushi restaurants in Manhattan who held sushi classes. I came across this place called Sushi Samba, it looked perfect. There are seven different restaurants, all in four great locations: Chicago, Miami, New York and Vegas.
They offer this class called Sushi and Sake 101. It’s a two hour class on making and eating sushi, and tasting a variety of different Sake. It was very pricey; it cost $85 per person. Although it was very expensive it was well worth it. At Sushi Samba will you find a unique blend of Japanese, Brazilian and Peruvian cuisine, music and design. The atmosphere is modern, colorful and ethnic.
If you ever need a good gift for someone who loves food then I recommend this place to anyone who enjoys sushi and sake. It is a great way to be a part of a different culture for the day.
